Dixon, CA – Earlier this morning, Dixon Police Department was alerted to two telephone calls received by staff at Dixon High School, threatening violence against the institution. Swift action was taken by the police in collaboration with the Dixon Unified School District (DUSD) to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Upon receiving the reports, Dixon Police immediately launched an investigation. Detectives, working closely with DUSD staff, were able to trace the origin of the threatening calls. Through diligent work, a phone number associated with these calls was identified. A subsequent warrant allowed officers to locate and identify the owner of the phone, a juvenile attending a high school in Fairfield.
Further investigation revealed that the phone owner had loaned his device to Josiah Boyd-Vaughn, 18, of Fairfield, who then confessed to making the threatening calls. Boyd-Vaughn has been charged with felony criminal threats in violation of California Penal Code 422PC. It was determined there was never a credible threat to Dixon High School, its students, or staff members.
Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the thoroughness of our response, Dixon PD and DUSD decided to temporarily implement a lockdown at the school. This precautionary measure was lifted once the situation was fully assessed and contained.
The Dixon Police Department and Dixon Unified School District take all threats seriously and will continue to work together to maintain a safe educational environment for our students.
