City of Dixon Honors Police Personnel During National Police Week

The City of Dixon is proud to join communities across the nation in recognizing and honoring our law enforcement personnel during National Police Week, observed this year from May 11–17, 2025.

National Police Week serves as a time to reflect on the tireless commitment of the men and women who serve and protect our city each and every day. From moments of quiet professionalism to extraordinary acts of courage, the members of the Dixon Police Department embody the highest ideals of public service.

"During Police Week, we pause to express our profound gratitude to the officers, dispatchers, professional staff, and volunteers who dedicate themselves to keeping Dixon safe," said Mayor Steve Bird "Their service often comes with great personal sacrifice, and it is only fitting that we recognize the depth of their contributions to our community."

The City acknowledges the challenges faced by law enforcement in an ever-evolving world and stands in full support of efforts that continue to build strong, trusted relationships between the Police Department and the community it serves.

Police Chief Robert Thompson added, "Policing is more than a job; it is a calling. I am honored to work alongside a team whose professionalism, compassion, and dedication reflect the very best of our profession."

Throughout Police Week, the City encourages all residents to take a moment to thank a police officer, learn more about the role of law enforcement in our community, and reflect on those who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Together, we honor the past, support the present, and invest in the future of policing in Dixon.
