Around 3pm Friday, May 15 the Dixon Police Department received a report of a reckless driver in a black Mercedes SUV. An officer driving northbound on Pedrick Rd. at Vaughn Rd. saw a black SUV approaching from the other direction. As the vehicle approached, it swerved into the officer’s lane, causing him to swerve off the road onto the shoulder to avoid a collision. The officer made a u-turn and attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The vehicle did not stop and continued southbound on Pedrick Rd. The vehicle turned westbound onto Midway Rd., and swerved into the opposing lane at an approaching big rig. The officer terminated the pursuit.
The vehicle was located again on North First St. and officers attempted to stop the vehicle, and it again fled from officers. The pursuit went northbound on North First St., eastbound on Vaughn Rd., northbound on Pedrick Rd., and then entered eastbound I-80. As the vehicle was entering the freeway, it turned around and started to drive the wrong way onto the on-ramp where it became disabled for an unknown reason.
Officers conducted a high risk stop and the suspect refused to exit the vehicle. California Highway Patrol and the Solano County Sherriff's Office responded and the Sheriff’s Office deployed pepper ball rounds into the vehicle. The suspect exited and tried to walk away, ignoring commands and the Sheriff’s Office deployed a K9 to take the suspect into custody.
The suspect was taken into custody around 4:15pm and medically cleared before being booked on the following charges: reckless driving, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evading, and willfully resisting, delaying and obstructing a peace officer.
