DIXON, Calif. — The City of Dixon invites residents to continue to join members of the City Council and City staff for Coffee with a Councilmember, a series of informal gatherings at local coffee shops throughout August.

The series is part of Dixon Grown, the City’s community education and engagement initiative launched in February 2026 to
provide residents with clear information about local planning and development. Coffee with a Councilmember follows the recent Popsicles in the Park events held across Dixon’s neighborhood parks in July.

Each Coffee with a Councilmember gathering offers an open house setting where residents can ask questions, share ideas and
learn more about the projects and priorities shaping Dixon. Topics may include development, City finances, engineering and infrastructure, parks and public safety. City staff will be in attendance alongside council members to answer questions in their areas of expertise.

The series began Monday, Aug. 3, with Mayor Steve Bird at Rosemary’s Farm to Fork. Three gatherings remain:

• Thursday, Aug. 13, 9:30 a.m. with Councilmembers Thom Bogue and Kevin Johnson at Rosemary’s Farm to Fork (140 N Jackson St).
• Friday, Aug. 14, 9 a.m. with Councilmember Don Hendershot at Starbucks on 1st Street (2590 N 1st St).
• Tuesday, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. with Vice Mayor Jim Ernest at Starbucks on Ary Lane (1450 Ary Lane).

“Some of our best conversations happen outside of council chambers,” said Mayor Steve Bird. “Sitting down over a cup of coffee gives residents a chance to ask what’s on their minds, and it gives us another opportunity to listen.”

Coffee with a Councilmember builds on the Dixon Grown workshop series held in March and April, which brought together nearly 200 residents through an online meeting and five in-person workshops. The conversation continues as the City works on a developer-funded Draft Environmental Impact Report for the proposed projects. Once the report is released, the public will have another opportunity to review it and provide comments, and the City will be required to respond to every comment received.
