Introduce your child to the joy of swimming with the City of Dixon’s summer swim lesson program at the Pat Granucci Aquatics Center! We offer group and private swimming lessons. Group lessons typically have a 5:1 student-to-instructor ratio, allowing swimmers to receive individual attention while also learning alongside other swimmers. Private lessons have a 1:1 student-to-instructor ratio and provide more individualized instruction.
Enrollment starts April 1st every year! Lessons run all summer long in two-week sessions, Monday through Thursday, for a total of eight 30-minute lessons. Each lesson builds on the skills taught previously, so we strongly encourage participants to attend all eight lessons.

Group Lessons
Our group lessons are divided by both age and swimming ability:
Each category includes skill levels so swimmers can learn alongside others with similar abilities. The age restrictions can be flexible; you will need to contact Recreation Staff.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are available for all ages, including adults. They are a great option for swimmers who need extra individual attention, prefer a one-on-one learning environment, or may feel nervous learning in a group.
Whether this is your first time taking swim lessons or you are returning for another session, this guide and FAQs will help you understand how our swim lesson program works, what to expect, and how to choose the right class for your swimmer.
Please review the swim lesson schedule, age requirements, level descriptions, and registration information before enrolling. Swimming lessons are designed to build skills from one lesson to the next, so we encourage participants to plan for and attend all eight lessons.
