FAQs When Registering

FAQs When Registering
How do I search for a class?

After signing into your Recreation account, select the red “Browse Classes” button. You can scroll through the available programs or use the “Keyword” search box to search for the name of the class you are looking for.

Our Recreation Guide also provides a yearly overview of our programs, including class descriptions and general timelines for when programs are offered.

When does registration open?

Some of our more popular programs, such as swim lessons, have specific registration opening dates and times. Registration dates and program timelines are listed in the Recreation Guide and on our online registration website.

Drop-In programs do not require advance registration unless otherwise noted. Simply attend the program and pay the applicable drop-in fee.

How do I know if a class is full?

When browsing classes, select the blue “View Details” button to see if space is available. If the class is full, the button will change to red and say “Waitlist.”

If a class is full, you can still select “Waitlist” and complete the registration process. The system will place you on the waitlist, but this does not guarantee that you will receive a spot in the class.

How will I know if I get off the waitlist?

If a spot becomes available, Recreation Staff will contact you directly. Openings are generally offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are offered a spot, Recreation Staff will add the class to your account and provide a deadline for payment. You can find your invoice by signing into your Dixon Parks & Recreation account, going to your Profile, and looking for the green “Invoice” button.

If you are not contacted by Recreation Staff, it means a spot did not become available for that class.

What happens if I register for the wrong class?

If you accidentally register for the wrong class, please contact City of Dixon Recreation as soon as possible. If space is available, Recreation Staff can help transfer your registration to the correct class.

What happens if a program is cancelled?

A program may be cancelled if there is low enrollment, an emergency, or another situation that prevents the program from being offered. When possible, Recreation Staff may offer the option to reschedule or transfer your registration to another available class.

If rescheduling or transferring is not possible, all registered participants will receive a full refund by check sent to the mailing address listed on their Recreation account. Refunds may take up to 21 business days to process.

Do you offer any financial assistance?

The City of Dixon offers a Recreation Scholarship Program for eligible Dixon residents. Approved participants may receive 75% off registration fees, up to $100 per child, toward eligible Recreation programs.

Scholarship applications must be completed and approved before registering for a program. Please contact City of Dixon Recreation for information about applying.

Can someone else pay/register my child for a class?

Yes, we recommend calling us if you are planning on paying/registering someone else for a class. Please call 707-678-7000 during business hours.
